Barring wintry weather, Play Readers will meet Mar. 3

Barring another bout of wintry weather, Play Readers will meet Mar. 3 at 7 pm to read a play out loud. We can't always make it in to the Campus ourselves to update about closings, so when in doubt, please stay home and stay safe. If schools and offices in Denton have been closed, you can pretty much bet that we've chickened out at the theatre!

The next meeting of Playwrights of Denton is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, if any playwrights contact us about having something to read or discuss (if you do, please contact thedctteam@campustheatre.com as soon as you know). We won't be meeting in March because it falls on Spring Break and the load-in/rehearsal for our contest show at the state competition in Lewisville.

No Playwrights Feb. 17

No playwrights have come forth with new work to read and discuss, so we'll cancel Playwrights for this month. Because of Spring Break (and load in/rehearsal for the state AACTFest competition that night), our next scheduled meeting will be April 21.

Last call for Playwrights of Denton on Feb. 17

The next meeting of Playwrights of Denton is scheduled for Feb. 17. Please email thedctteam@campustheatre.com by Monday, Feb. 16 at noon that you'll be bringing something to read and/or talk about, or we'll cancel this month's meeting.

Congratulations to the all-Play Readers cast and crew of A Need for Less Expertise, which competed in the AACT/TNT QuadFest last weekend and advanced to the state competition (mid-March in Lewisville again). You can see it for yourself at a fundraising performance Feb. 14 at 8 pm--tickets will be $10!

Play Readers of Denton will meet Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 pm to read a play out loud.  Last week, we read and adjudicated a submission for the Method and Madness New Plays competition and read Sarah Treem's A Feminine Ending in anticipation of this weekend's auditions.

Those auditions will be held at the DCT POINTBank Black Box on Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Feb. 15 from 2-5 pm. The Black Box is located at 318 E. Hickory. If needed, callbacks will be held Monday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 pm at the Campus Theatre. The show is directed by Play Reader Mandy Rausch.

Play Readers of Denton will meet Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 7 pm to read a play out loud. We have another play that the Method and Madness Competition folks has asked us to read and adjudicate, so we'll try to do that one, and perhaps another short published script. Last week, we adjudicated one entry and read Paul Rudnick's I Hate Hamlet.

The next meeting of Playwrights of Denton is scheduled for Feb. 17. Please email thedctteam@campustheatre.com as soon as you know that you'll be bringing something to read and/or talk about.

DCT's Black Box production of Nicky Silver's The Food Chain opens tonight and runs Feb. 6-8 (Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2 pm). The hilarious (but profane--so be warned) comedy is directed by Play Reader Mandy Rausch, and features Play Readers Travis Barth, Melissa Sims, and Aaron Martin in the cast. Tickets are $15, and seating at the Black Box is always limited, so make your plans as soon as you can.
