Happy Holidays!

The Campus Theatre will close for the holidays Dec. 18-Jan. 2, so neither Play Readers nor Playwrights of Denton will meet over that time. Play Readers will resume Jan. 4, 2011, at 7 pm upstairs at the Campus Theatre.

Playwrights of Denton will next meet Jan. 18, 2011, so if you're tired of writing Christmas cards, why not try a scene or two?

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all of you!

Play Readers AND Writers will meet Dec. 14

Play Readers and Writers will have a combined meeting starting at 7 pm Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Campus Theatre. We will read a new play by one of our playwrights and have a holiday celebration. Plan to bring something festive to share.

Last week, Play Readers got the holiday season started by reading the Jones/Hope/Wooten Texas comedy, Christmas Belles. (Play Reader Kim Campbell is currently performing the role of Frankie in Greater Lewisville Community Theatre's production--break a leg, Kim!)

The Campus Theatre is closed for the holidays Dec. 20-31, so the next meeting of Play Readers will be Jan. 4; the next meeting of Playwrights of Denton will be Jan. 18.

Kyla Welch is leading the Second Saturdays Seminar on Dec. 11 from 1-3; the workshop's topic will be Props--how to make, find, borrow, and/or buy them for a production. The seminar is specifically geared toward the novice who would like to help with props under the guidance of a more experienced Propsmaster. All Second Saturdays Seminars are free and reservations are not required. Still, we appreciate knowing how many people to plan for, so please email or call 940 382-7014 x3 to rsvp.

Christmas at the Campus runs this weekend only! Act 1 features Play Readers Shirley Ludlow and Joanna Ludlow-Clowers in The Second Shepherds' Play and Act 2's Christmas Pie...A Madrigal Farce and Feaste stars DCT favorites Buster Maloney, Kay Lamb, Lindsay Keffer, Polly Maynard, Donna Trammell, and Bob Rogers. Tickets are available online through or at the box office (M-F 1-5 940 382-1915), which is also open one hour prior to each show's curtain time. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Play Readers will meet Dec. 7

Play Readers of Denton will meet Tuesday, December 7, starting at 7 pm upstairs at the Campus Theatre to read a play out loud. Last Tuesday was the fifth Tuesday in November, so Play Readers didn't meet.

Because the Campus Theatre will be closed Dec. 18-Jan. 2, which will include the usual meeting times for Playwrights and Play Readers on Dec. 21 and 28, we need to consolidate meetings for this very busy month. After Play Readers meets as usual on Dec. 7, let's have a joint meeting of Play Readers and Playwrights on Dec. 14 to read Dan Creson's latest draft and have a holiday celebration. Plan to bring something edible to share, and let's celebrate another great year of play reading and writing. Play Readers turns 5 years old in January!

The Second Saturdays Seminar on Dec. 11 will feature Props Mistress Extraordinaire Kyla Welch in a workshop about finding, making, borrowing, and (in extreme circumstances) buying props. All are welcome; this workshop is specifically geared toward the beginner who would like to assist a lead Props designer, but doesn't know where or how to start. The workshop will run 1-3 pm at the Campus Theatre, and is free to all interested adults. Please let us know you're planning to attend by emailing or calling 940 382-7014 x3.

Christmas at the Campus, DCT's holiday fund-raising show for the holidays, will run Dec. 10-12. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Act 1 will feature The Second Shepherds' Play and Act 2 will showcase The Trammell Group's Christmas Pie: A Madrigal Feaste and Farce. Tickets are available online through or by calling or stopping by the box office (M-F 1-5; 940 382-1915).

Hope to see you at the Campus!
