With Thanksgiving coming up, and so many Play Readers going off to see friends and family (or welcoming friends and family here), we won't try to meet Tuesday, Nov. 22. Instead, we'll meet Tuesday, Nov. 29, even though it's technically the fifth Tuesday of the month. We're planning to read Dan Creson's new cycle of one-act plays, and we need a bunch of readers--please try to come if you can!
Last week, Playwrights of Denton met, but we didn't have enough readers to cover the roles in Dan's plays. The next meeting of Playwrights of Denton will be January 17, 2012, because the Campus will be closed for the holidays when we would usually meet in December.
Remember that the submission deadline for DCT's Method and Madness One-Act Play Competition is January 14, 2012. Prizes range from $2000 to $200. More info at http://www.dentoncommunitytheatre/PlaywritingCompetitionMainPage.htm.
Mark your calendars now for the Second Saturdays Seminar on December 10, 2011. Kyla Welch will be leading a workshop on Improv for Beginners, and it's going to be a really fun time. The workshop is free and runs from 1-3 pm at the Campus Theatre.

Playwrights will meet Nov. 15
Playwrights of Denton will meet at the Campus Theatre on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 pm. We have a cycle of three one-acts to read, so Play Readers are welcome (and needed).
Because so many of us are going out of town for Thanksgiving (or welcoming far-flung family and friends), there won't be a Play Readers meeting on Nov. 22--but we WILL meet on Nov. 29, even though it will be the fifth Tuesday of the month.
Last week, Play Readers had fun reading Noel Coward's Private Lives.
Two important fundraisers are coming up for DCT and the Campus Theatre: The Arts Guild Auction for the Arts is Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Center for the Visual Arts; and Beaujolais and More is Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Civic Center. They're both great events, and help us underwrite the Play Readers and Playwrights of Denton programs.

Play Readers will meet Nov. 8
Play Readers of Denton will meet at the Campus Theatre, 214 W. Hickory, at 7 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, to read a play out loud. Last week, we welcomed a new member and read Charles Busch's Tales of the Allergist's Wife.
The next meeting of Playwrights of Denton will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre.
This is the last weekend of DCT's production of Macbeth, featuring most of our regular Play Readers. Performances are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5, at 7:30 pm and Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 pm. Tickets are available from the box office (M-F 1-5): 940 382-1915.
