Play Readers will meet Mar. 1

Play Readers of Denton will meet Tuesday, Mar. 1, at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre to read a play out loud. Last week, we read Inherit the Wind--with 4 readers!

 Playwrights of Denton won't meet in March, as our scheduled date of March 17 is (a) St. Patrick's Day and (b) in the middle of Spring Break for all the public schools and universities in the area. But if there's a playwright who would like to present at the April 19 meeting, please email thedctteam@campustheatre.com as soon as possible.

Play Readers will meet Feb. 23

Play Readers of Denton will meet Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre to read a play out loud. Last week, we ended up reading Doubt.

Playwrights of Denton will meet Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 pm. We have a new playwright who needs about 7 readers to do the play justice--please email thedctteam@campustheatre if you can help us out. Here's a synopsis and character descriptions:
 
Unbalanced by Aaron Zilbermann


Synopsis:

After a disturbing suicide attempt, Ezra finds himself locked in the psychiatric ward of a hospital.  Diagnosed with bipolar disorder, his psychiatrist at the facility recommends a treatment of electroconvulsive therapy to help him break free from the shackles of his depression.  Ezra struggles through the memory loss, disorientation, the alienation of his wife and daughters, and his internal struggles toward recovery.

 

EZRA – A male patient in his early thirties. 

DR. AMIN – A female psychiatrist in her late thirties.

SARAH – A female in her early thirties.  EZRA’s wife.

SAUL – A male therapist in his early forties.

TONI – A trans (MTF) patient in her late thirties

SONIA – A nineteen year-old female patient.

MERCEDES – A female patient in her early twenties

CAROL – A female patient in her mid forties.

HEATHER – An attractive nurse in her mid-thirties

DR. HAREM – A male anesthetist in his mid-forties

DR. ROSENBERG – a male psychiatrist in his mid-fifties

Driving Miss Daisy continues tonight at the DCT PointBank Black Box Theatre, directed by Play Reader John Rodgers, assistant directed by Play Reader Melissa Karol, with additional help from Play Readers Jaime Rodriguez-Schmidt, Dr. Linda Rubin, Elsie Barrow, Judi Conger, and Jessica Phillips. Play Readers will meet Feb. 9

Play Readers of Denton will meet Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre to read a play out loud. Last week, we read Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross in anticipation of auditions mid-February.

Playwrights of Denton is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 pm. We have a new playwright who is interested in having a play read--please email thedctteam@campustheatre if you can help us out. We should have more information and a role breakdown soon.
