With our first meeting on January 7, 2014 (at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre), Play Readers will celebrate a full 8 years of reading plays out loud together. We've come a long way from that first meeting at the Emily Fowler, when Dave, Steve, Damon, Lynn, and Julie read Proof for the very first time! This time, we'll be reading and adjudicating more Method and Madness entries.
Speaking of adjudication, we'll need to use the January 21, 2014,
Playwrights meeting to adjudicate as well as the Jan. 11 Second
Saturdays Seminar, and each Play Readers through February. Almost all of
our playwrights submitted right at the deadline, so we haven't been
able to get a jump on adjudicating. But the good news is that, so far, we've had really high-quality scripts.
Playwrights of Denton will resume our usual format on Feb. 18, 2014, at 7
pm at the
Campus Theatre. We have a new playwright who is bringing a script that
calls for 10 men (although I've warned him that, community theatre being
what it is, we'll probably have some women reading those roles). Please
come if you're able! And if you're bringing something and need readers, please email thedctteam@campustheatre.com as soon as possible!
The Second Saturdays Seminar on Jan. 11 (1-3 pm at the Campus Theatre) will focus on adjudicating scripts for Method and Madness.
DCT's special event production of Miracle on 34th Street continues throughthis weekend--more info at www.dentoncommunitytheatre.com. Break a leg to all involved!
The Campus Theatre will close on Dec. 23 and reopen Jan. 6 for the
holidays. Have a merry (and
ice-free) Christmas and New Year!

Playwrights/Play Readers will meet Dec. 17
Play Readers and Playwrights will meet together on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre
to celebrate the season and then read/adjudicate 2 or 3 new plays from the Method and Madness Competition. If you'd like to bring goodies to share, we'll have a brief festive mixer, and then excuse any playwrights who have entered this year's competition, and continue to graze while we read!
