Play Readers of Denton will meet Nov. 23

Play Readers of Denton will meet Tuesday, Nov. 23, upstairs at the Campus Theatre, 214 W. Hickory St., to read a play out loud. Tuesday, Nov. 30, will be the fifth Tuesday in the month, so there will be no meeting that night.

Playwrights of Denton met Nov. 16. A local children's author spoke to us about having someone adapt her picture book into a play for young audiences. We brainstormed some potential staging ideas with her and she left several copies of her book for members to borrow and think about.

Because the Campus Theater will be closed for the holidays on the 3rd and 4th Tuesdays in December (12/21 and 28), we need to consolidate meetings in this very busy month. Play Readers will meet Dec. 7, as usual, and then Play Readers and Playwrights will meet Dec. 14 to read Dan Creson's latest draft and have a holiday celebration. Plan to bring something edible to share, and let's celebrate another great year of play reading and writing. Play Readers will turn 5 years old in January!

The Second Saturdays Seminar on Dec. 11 will feature Props Mistress Extraordinaire Kyla Welch in a workshop about finding, making, borrowing, and (in extreme circumstances) buying props. All are welcome; this workshop is specifically geared toward the beginner who would like to assist a lead Props designer, but doesn't know where or how to start. The workshop will run 1-3 pm at the Campus Theatre, and is free to all interested adults. Please let us know you're planning to attend by emailing thedctteam@campustheatre.com or calling 940 382-7014 x3.

Christmas at the Campus, DCT's fundraising show for the holidays, will run Dec. 10-12. Tickets are $20 for adults/$10 for children under 12.

Hope to see you at the Campus!

Playwrights of Denton will meet Nov. 16

Playwrights of Denton will meet Tuesday, Nov. 16, starting at 7 pm upstairs at the Campus Theatre. Claud Singer would like to hear his latest draft of Merisi, so we're sending out a call for readers as well as writers for this week. The December meeting of Playwrights of Denton will fall on the 21st.

Last week, three of us sat and talked about everything under the sun for so long that we never did read a play! But we'll be back on track for Nov. 23.

Don't forget that Betsy Deiterman will be leading the Second Saturdays Seminar tomorrow, Nov. 13. The topic is Volunteering at the Campus; it will run from 1-3 pm, and it's free. Please email us at www.dentoncommunitytheatre.com or call 940 382-7014 x3 to let us know you're planning to attend.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Campus!
