Play Readers will meet Tuesday, Feb. 4 to read and adjudicate two more Method and Madness entries. But because of the just-in-time-for-the-deadline number of entries, the ice storm, the holidays, and now the flu, we're seriously behind on adjudicating. Please come whenever you can if you're able!

Playwrights of Denton will resume our usual format on Feb. 18, 2014, at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre. We have a new playwright who is bringing a script that calls for 10 men (although I've warned him that, community theatre being what it is, we'll probably have some women reading those roles). Please come if you're able!  And if you're bringing something and need readers, please email thedctteam@campustheatre.com as soon as possible!

The Second Saturdays Seminar on Feb. 8 (1-3 pm at the Campus Theatre) will focus on adjudicating scripts for Method and Madness.

DCT's MainStage production of Who's in Bed With the Butler, directed by Play Reader Johnny Williams, runs through this weekend. More information at www.dentoncommunitytheatre.com. (And if you're available for strike after the show on Sunday, we could sure use the help!)

Auditions for DCT's MainStage production of Hello, Dolly! will be held at the Campus Theatre on Feb. 3 and 4 (callbacks Feb. 5) at 7 pm. More information under the Auditions tab of the DCT website, www.dentoncommunitytheatre.com. Break a leg!

Play Readers will meet Jan. 21 instead of Playwrights

Play Readers met Tuesday, Jan. 14 to read and adjudicate two more Method and Madness entries. But because of the just-in-time-for-the-deadline number of entries, the ice storm, the holidays, and now the flu, we're seriously behind on adjudicating. Please come whenever you can if you're able!

We'll use the January 21, 2014, Playwrights meeting to adjudicate and each Play Readers through February. But the good news is that, overall, we've had really high-quality scripts.

Play Readers will meet Jan. 14

With our first meeting on January 7, 2014 (at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre), Play Readers celebrated a full 8 years of reading plays out loud together. We've come a long way from that first meeting at the Emily Fowler, when Dave, Steve, Damon, Lynn, and Julie read Proof for the very first time! This time, we read and adjudicated three more Method and Madness entries.

Speaking of adjudication, we'll need to use the January 21, 2014, Playwrights meeting to adjudicate as well as the Jan. 11 Second Saturdays Seminar, and each Play Readers through February. Almost all of our playwrights submitted right at the deadline, so we haven't been able to get a jump on adjudicating. But the good news is that, so far, we've had really high-quality scripts.

Playwrights of Denton will resume our usual format on Feb. 18, 2014, at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre. We have a new playwright who is bringing a script that calls for 10 men (although I've warned him that, community theatre being what it is, we'll probably have some women reading those roles).
